Chesterfield Commons
Chesterfield, Missouri

What was once a large, vacant and open field with absolutely no trees is now a 160-acre shopping center with fountains, flowers and vegetation. A water detention pond in the rear is planted to retain the wildlife that fed in the open fields prior to construction.

There are now 1,384 trees, 3,364 shrubs, 13,491 perennials and 3,984 annuals throughout the development. All fifteen outlots are required to adhere to strict landscape requirements, adding to the heavy landscaping found throughout this development. Strategic landscaping is placed to provide shade, direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic and enhance the shopping experience for all who visit.

The ornamental fountains are located in two areas which serve as trailheads for the many bicycle enthusiasts that frequent the area, allowing them to rest, get their feet wet, etc. The fountains, designed by TRi, create a splashing noise to mask the nearby traffic on Highway 40.

Currently, 730,000 square feet of retail space has been developed with expansions to both the east and the west planned. The expansions will add three more trailhead/fountains.

This project recently won the City of Chesterfield's Beautification Award in the commercial development category.
